The Rescue

Made in collaboration with East 15 and Northern School of Contemporary Dance.

Longstanding Gecko performer Chris Evans, working alongside students at East 15 and NSCD, has created a brand-new devised production that delves into the characteristics of archetypal childhood trauma and explores what happens to these wounds as adults.

Employing Gecko’s trademark style, devising performer Chris Evans (The OvercoatMissingInstituteThe Time of Your LifeThe Wedding, Kin) blends emotionally driven movement, a sweeping original soundtrack and striking visual storytelling to deliver a spectacular production about heroes, monsters and the fight for survival.

The Rescue was originally developed with students on the BA Acting and Contemporary Theatre course at East 15, with design by Mayou Trikerioti, lighting design by Pablo Fernandez Baz and original music by Michael Crean. Chris then took the show back to the drawing board before developing a reimagined version with students on the MA Interdisciplinary Dance Performance course at Northern School of Contemporary Dance, with design by Andi Walker, lighting design by Chris Yates, and redeveloped original music by Michael Crean.
